How to Keep Your Plants Alive Through Winter
Posted on: Thursday, Dec 30, 2010
I think it goes without saying that we all hope to keep our plants alive during winter to see another spring, summer and fall. However, mere wishing in most cases will not achieve this goal. Here are a few tips on how to make it happen.
While you may not have realized, many decorative pots are not created to protect plants against freezing conditions. They should be wrapped up in multiple layers of burlap, and tied well at the top. It would also benefit tender plants to be moved to a sheltered area, out of the way of storms and winds. If you have a shed, this might be the best place for certain plants, but you must remember to water them from time to time. Once the temperatures have warmed up, remove the cover that you created, and set aside till next year.
