Getting the Vegetable Garden in Shape
Posted on: Saturday, Jan 22, 2011
We all know the relevance of setting up the vegetable garden correctly, before ever planting a thing. You should get the soil in tip top shape by using compost in autumn, and then a few weeks before planting or sowing blend in fertilizer. Then, and only then can you sleep easy.
Once you have prepared your soil well, and planted your vegetable garden there are a couple of steps you will want to complete. Most important of these can be proper watering of the vegetables from start to finish.
It is of the utmost importance to water the seedlings when they are setting seed and flowering. The best times of day to do the watering are early morning and early evening, as this will help battle evaporation. You need to give them a good soak, not just a sprinkling. Otherwise, you will get cracked tomatoes, split carrots, and other veggies that never even set properly.
